Based in our Dublin or Belfast branch, we are looking to recruit a Logistics Manager to join our team.

Purpose of Job: To ensuring the safe and efficient running of our RDCs in Belfast, Cork and Dublin. Support the DC management team, meeting all delivery SLA’s, providing an excellent level of customer service and communication across the organisation.

Key responsibilities and duties - daily tasks will include, but not be limited to:

  • Asset management
    • Manage teams across 3 separate sites
    • Use management information to identify opportunities to reduce costs/waste and improve operational efficiency. 
    • Manage warehouse layout to maximise operational efficiency.
    • Management of daily order workflows.
    • Organisation of the various teams including: put away, delivery, Order picking, packing and dispatch.
    • Manage and monitor stock movements, carry out the required number of stock checks annually, make sure stock systems are maintained and updated.
    • Make sure all:
      • aspects of all depot activities comply with company procedures and policies;
      • necessary actions are taken in response to audit findings within agreed parameters; and
      • Staff understand how they can influence costs and contribute to depot profitability.
    • Make sure procedures are followed and reviewed in respect of security of stock and premises (including out-of-hours alarm calls).
    • Plan, monitor and adjust overall staffing levels to maintain operational efficiency.

  • People management
    • Lead on the recruitment and selection of new members of staff.
    • Oversee the induction of new members of staff. 
    • Manage the performance of direct line reports by agreeing expectations (standards, measures etc.) and providing on-going feedback.
    • Identify staff development needs and put plans in place to meet them, including providing coaching and on-the-job training where appropriate.
    • Make sure driver training is organised (accident prevention).
    • Deal with staff issues promptly (e.g. under-performance, misconduct, absence) and in line with relevant AAG policies, liaising with HR Advisor as necessary.
    • Lead on disciplinary/grievance/recruitment/post-accident investigations and interviews as required.
    • Submit weekly absence and overtime calculations to payroll dept.

  • Customer service management
    • Review and improve delivery service to aid business development.
    • Process customer returns and warranties effectively and efficiently, in line with company procedures.

  • Communication
    • Respond to regional management requests in line with specified deadlines.
    • Attend regional and review meetings with regional management.
    • Escalate all operational and sales issues promptly to relevant regional manager.
    • Communicate performance and change information to branch staff on an on-going basis.

  • Health and safety - make sure:
    • all equipment is recorded accurately and checked regularly;
    • weekly H & S inspections are carried out and remedial action taken accordingly;
    • accidents and incidents are recorded in line with AAG procedure;
    • random vehicle safety checks are carried out;
    • delivery vehicles and warehouse equipment is maintained and serviced in line with agreed frequency
    • Staff, contractors and visitors comply with H & S legislation, encouraging and developing a positive approach to Health and Safety at all levels.

Special requirements:

  • Previous Logistics and man management skills
  • Competent with Microsoft office suite: Excel, Outlook, Teams especially.
  • Experience with WMS systems, KCS K8 and MAM Autopart is desirable.
  • Flexible working pattern to ensure efficient/effective trading.
  • Occasional out-of-hours travel requirements.
  • Occasional overnight events.
  • May be required to drive Non-HGV delivery vehicle on occasion
  • Job may involve lifting/carrying/handling goods on occasion – maximum weight 25 kg
  • Any other reasonable task as required.
